Happy New Year!

2007 is going to be a great year! Baby Nick will enter our lives and we are so excited! Seth and I get more excited each day about our baby. It is funny how a baby changes everything. Baby Nick isn’t even here yet, and we find we are already making lots of changes. For instance, we decided to completely renovate our basement. Currently, it is being used as a game room. There is a ping pong table, a dart board and one lonely couch. We actually inherited the ping pong table from a neighbor b/c they needed to get rid of it since they were having a baby. Now, we have to get rid of it. But not completely. It is getting folded up and hopefully we can use it in our new house (whenever that may be). We just can’t part with it. In memory of the ping pong table we will be hosting a grand ping pong table party/tournament with all our friends (date to be announced). All to say, we are redesigning the basement into 2 sections: a small guest room and a media room with a projector to watch movies. It will be a warm and cozy space, far from the cold, dark room that we currently think of it as. My wonderful husband will be learning how to hang drywall and I will definitely lend a hand. I love home improvement projects. Change…here we come.

In the next three weeks, she’ll go through a tremendous growth spurt, doubling her weight and adding inches to her length. Her lower limbs are much more developed now. Her head is more erect than it has been, and her eyes have moved toward the front of her head. Your baby’s ears are close to their final position, too. Some of her more advanced body systems are working, including her circulatory system and urinary tract. The patterning of her scalp has begun, though her hair isn’t recognizable yet. Although closed, her eyes are moving (slowly), and she’s even started growing toenails. Her finger – and toenails will continue to grow throughout pregnancy, so don’t be surprised if she needs them trimmed soon after birth.
