We had visitors

Baby Nick and myself were thrilled to have my two dear friends from college, Care & Beth, swing by yesterday for a few hours. It was too short, but very fun to see them both. And Baby Nick didn’t disappoint. He knew they were coming so he may sure they could feel his kicks.

On to less exciting news. Seth and I have finally given in to one of the many demands of being a homeowner…having to buy new heating and air conditioning units. I cringe just saying it because it means lots of our hard earned money has to be spent on such unattractive objects. We had our first estimate this morning, which we really like them so hopefully they will pull through, and two more estimates scheduled for this week. We hope to make a decision very soon since we want to get this done in April. Anyone thinking of getting a new unit, do it now. This is their cheap season because most people wait till Summer hits and they realize they need a new air unit. Plus, they like to install the units when it is nice outside. Can you really blame them?

Baby Nick might just have had the hiccups this morning. This would be the first time I have felt them. My tummy was bouncing for a few minutes in a rhythmic pattern. Interesting.

Week 27

I finally hit the 3rd trimester and boy can I tell already. Things are getting harder to do, like bending over and tying my shoes or trying to get up off the couch. Seth has been a huge help. If he is around, he usually helps me with my shoes and getting me off the couch or out of bed. Life is just going to get more uncomfortable and I don’t know if I am fully prepared for that.

I got my 3rd cold this week since I have been pregnant. I usually only get about 1 a year, but I think Baby Nick is making it easier for me to catch whatever is going around. Oh well, I can deal with it. I know he will be worth it.

We decided for our little getaway to go to the Bed & Breakfast in Colonial Beach, VA. It is located on the Potomac River in a Victorian house that used to be Alexander Graham Bell’s summer home. We can’t wait to get away.

Here is what is happening this week: pregnancy.org & baby-gaga.com

Your baby will grow over ½ inch this week alone! Your not-so-tiny-anymore swimmer (2 pounds and about 14.5 inches long!) is slowly rotating in preparation to “head out.” Obviously, this doesn’t happen overnight, but when you start to feel an unfamiliar pressure on your cervix, you’ll know you’ve got a fully flipped baby locked and loaded for the countdown to their birthday! Eyelids are now open more. Your baby can distinguish between light and dark. Response to sound grows more consistent toward the end of the seventh month, when the network of nerves to the ear is complete. Your baby’s hearing continues to develop, he may start to recognize your voice as well as your partner’s. Even now, at the beginning of the third trimester, his little lungs are already capable of breathing air, while the pulmonary vascular system can provide sufficient gas exchange, and the central nervous system can generally regulate rhythmic breathing as well as their basal body temperature. For what it’s worth, at this point in a healthy pregnancy a premature child (with intensive care) could easily win on the show: “Survivor: The Early Years.”

Weekend Getaway Ideas

Seth and I want to take one more trip before Baby Nick enters our lives. Just a little weekend getaway, hopefully sometime in the next few weeks, before I get too huge. I have been researching places, but wanted to see if anyone out there had any good ideas. We don’t want to go too far so I was thinking about Colonial Beach, VA. I found this great B & B on the Potomac River. http://www.thebellhouse.com

Well, if anyone has any ideas, please pass them along.

I’ll leave you with this photo from our wedding. It makes me laugh. I really wasn’t mad at Seth, but my friend Care told me to act mad and I think the picture is hilarious.

More Pregger Pics

Where is the week going? I have been slacking a bit on my posts.

My best friend Linny came up this Tuesday to help me with a job, so we of course, had to take more photos of our growing bellies.

Here we are at 21 weeks (Linny) and 26 weeks (me).

Linny and my sister Kate, finally got to feel Baby Nick kick. Linny couldn’t believe how strong his kicks were. The other night, Seth and I were watching a movie and I made him keep his hand on my stomach. Baby Nick was kicking the whole time. It was so cute, Seth would say, “Did you feel that one?” or “Are they always that strong?” and of course, I said, “hunny, I feel every one of those kicks…all day long.”

I think the time has come that my wedding rings finally don’t fit anymore. It was a sad day. I have made it to 7 months (well, next Monday I will be at 7 months) so I guess the day was bound to come. I feel like everything is starting to swell. I guess with the heat, I am starting to swell more…oh the joys of pregnancy.

If you are wondering why we have that strange photo of the signs along the sidebar, well, that is the sign you see when you enter our community. We might just live in the most strict neighborhood around. Maybe another day I will tell you all about our lovely Greenwich Hill community.
