The belly shots

A request from Heather Karl. She wanted to see the first belly shot again. Here is a little sneak peak of what has happened over the last 8 months. Seth will be putting together a slideshow once our little guy gets here.

Getting Ready

I’m feeling much better today then I was yesterday morning. My wonderful mom has been coming over to help me clean my house, which has been a huge blessing. I really don’t know how to repay her for everything she has done for me, but I guess that is a mother’s love for you, they don’t expect to be paid back for everything.
I started washing all the baby clothes and blankets and realized our son has a way better wardrobe then me. He has been spoiled by friends and family. His room is pretty much done and now I just need to pack our bags for the hospital, then I will feel like I can actually breathe. Actually, I can’t really breathe until after this baby comes since he is basically in my throat.

I finally picked up a diaper pail this week. I wonder how many dirty diapers will go into that thing. My sister told me the other day (coming from a mother of a 5 month old), “I don’t usually mind changes diapers, but some days I just feel like that is all I do is change dirty diapers and sometimes I just don’t want to do it.” Is my niece really 5 months old already? I can’t wait to see her and our little guy play together. Although, I’m sure when she is older she will want nothing to do with her “boy cousin”.

Well, that is it for today. Seth is diligently working hard editing and producing a DVD for our church building campaign. I really should go help him.

Week 34

I can’t believe the weekend is over. I probably say that every Monday. It just goes by so fast especially when you have a full schedule. I had my first yard sale and surprising even though I had to stop at 11:30 due to the rain, I still made $120 so I’m happy with that. :)

I’m trying not to stress out, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything. Everyone at church last night said they think I am going early b/c it looks like he is so big and I have no room left. So needless to say, that freaked me out and I’m starting to panic. Seth and I have been so busy with so many other responsibilities that I haven’t finished his room. So, today is going to be a super nesting day for me. Since my client postponed on me for today (due to losing her calendar and upon finding it realized she had double booked herself-this is my life with disorganized people) I am spending the day washing his clothes and blankets (and praying for the Lord’s strength).

Thanks to our friends Jason & Tonya they were a major help to us this weekend so we were able to get more accomplished in the basement. It is looking so good and I really see it being done before the baby comes. It might not be painted and up to par the way I would like it to be, but I’m at the point now where as long as a bed gets in there and it serves as a guest room I can live with that for now (sure I say this now, but I’m sure I will be driving Seth crazy to have the room painted and all decorated before our guests arrive to see Baby Nick)

I know, you are all DYING to know his name. It drives my family and friends CRAZY. They can’t handle it that we have kept his name a secret, but I can tell you it is not Nick. If you are wondering why we are keeping it a secret, well, it is something Seth and I decided to do because we wanted to make sure his name was something we liked and agreed upon, and a name that NO ONE else gave their input, advice, looks…whatever. We just didn’t want anyone to make us change our minds. Now, I don’t know if will we do this again with Baby Nick #2, since it is extremely hard to keep his name a secret!

Here is what is happening this week: pregnancy.org and baby-gaga.com

Your amazing baby is on the move! They’ve been riding fairly high in your stretched-out womb to this point (while kindly compressing your poor internal organs), but now they’re planning on making the big move to your pelvis this week. If you haven’t already, you’ll be noticing the weight shift that signals they are most likely out of breech position, with their head now resting on your pubic bone. In liver news: although not quite fully formed, your little miracle’s liver is now capable of processing a certain amount of waste. In general, most of your child’s prenatal physical development is pretty much up to snuff and ready for the outside world. Naturally, further weight gain is expected—so you’re still not at maximum capacity despite probably feeling like you definitely are maxed out.

Other interesting facts:

Your baby acts completely like a newborn, with his eyes opened when awake and closed when sleeping. You may also find him settling into more of a routine for sleeping & awake times. He has learned to blink and he can also see more clearly when there is a bright light on your stomach and probably has the outline of all your organs memorized!

Antibodies from your blood are being transferred to him. These immunities continue to build until birth. Then breast milk will add even more protection against disease.

Your baby may have already turned to a head-down position in preparation for birth. If he is your first baby, he may be settling into the pelvis with his head pressing against your cervix. Fingernails have reached the end of the fingertips now. He may even scratch his face even before he is born!

Congrats Elizabeth & Brad!

My friend Elizabeth (in the pink) had her baby girl on Monday, April 30th.
