Baby Nick=Abel Anthony

So, was everyone surprised at his name?

Are you wondering why we chose Abel Anthony…well, I’m glad you asked. :)

God is able to do great and mighty things and our prayer is that He uses Abel for His glory. Abel was the second son of Adam & Eve and murdered by his brother Cain who was jealous of him. God asked Cain and Abel to prepare an offering to Him and Abel brought his best sheep and Cain brought…well, not his best fruit. Abel pleased God and because of that, Cain was jealous and murdered him. Our prayer is that Abel will give his best to God and use his talents for Him to bring others to Christ. Also, Abel is mentioned in the New Testament where he is listed first in the “By Faith” section. Hebrews 11:4 states, “By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice then Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.” Abel still speaks to us because his righteous deeds have been recorded in Scripture and that is exactly the legacy we want Abel to have here on earth.

Anthony was chosen last minute…literally, I was 10 hours into labor and we decided on Anthony. I love the name and he is named after my father, Albert Anthony.

So no more Baby Nick. Baby Nick #2 will have to wait until mommy and daddy are ready to start this whole process again. :)

Seth’s family came into town this weekend. They all adored Abel and couldn’t keep their hands off him. How can you not? He is gorgeous. We made them grandparents and aunts & uncles for the first time.

Here are some pics from the weekend.

Is Shauna tearing up in that picture? It looks like it, which makes me bawl. so precious. these are great Jules, and you look amazing, how do you do it?

Abel – I was TOTALLY surprised. I mean I have heard NO ONE use that name, ever. so it was totally new to me. obviously I know the Biblical person but I’ve never known an Abel. I love it!
Can I call him Abe, or is that a no-no…

We love Abe. We figured his friends would call him that. You have to think of all these things and if you are going to like the nicknames people give them. And we like Abe. It’s cute. We have never met an Abel either which is another reason we wanted to use it. We wanted something different, but not weird.

I love the name. It IS different, which is great. Josh is already having fun coming up with all the different nicknames he can call him. :) He is just beautiful, Julie – you guys make a great family.

Kris-we just went and got Seth measured for the Tux. We faxed his measurements to the store up there. Let us know if we need to do anything else.

Was thrilled to hear the news of little Abel!! Congratulations! The pictures are just beautiful too. Thanks for sharing them!

Love the name, love the meaning…even more important. What an awesome prayer for your son that he too, may have the character and attributes of the original Abel. The pictures are fantastic! He is just beautiful…seriously gorgeous. You know Chloe might be into younger men, her mama is!
