He’s finally here! And what a blessing he is. Julie is still at the hospital as I write this, but wanted to get some pictures and facts out to all those who are waiting.
Abel was born yesterday, June 4th at 5:05 pm., weighing 7lbs, 3oz. and measuring 20.5 in. I can’t even begin to describe what it feels like to be with Julie through the whole labor & delivery and to now be the father. I’m sure she will narrate the process from her point-of-view after she gets home, but I will tell you that she was amazingly brave through such a long labor.
As for Abel, he is doing great. He had a huge conehead (and still does somewhat) that scared me when he first came out, but it will get rounder over the next couple weeks, and a mild case of jaundice because of the bruises and scrapes on his head from delivery. It can’t be easy coming through that entrance.
Here are some pictures (in chronological order):

The moment he was placed on Julie’s chest, just seconds after birth. I can’t believe I was able to focus enough to take this one, actually.
The nurse checking him out as he opens his eyes.
Being weighed, and not too happy about it.
The new mom and dad.
A thrilled Julie gets to hold him.
Pooped out after all the visitors left last night.
Julie telling someone the news while he sleeps in her arms.
His cute little sleeping face.
Soaking up some blue rays this morning in the room. He needs this for a day or two because of the jaundice, say the doctors.
Hopefully these will hold over those of you who haven’t gotten to see him face-to-face yet, especially my family (until this weekend, at least). It’s been an amazing ride so far and we are so thankful for all your prayers and caring.
