It’s time to get serious

Yesterday was my post baby 6 week check-up and thankfully everything looks good and I can go back to being a normal person. I am actually excited about vacuuming and working out. And boy do I desperately need to start working out. I have about 20 lbs I would like to loose….wow…that sounds like so much being that I have never had to really loose weight before. But I am on a mission and when I set my mind to something, I will stick to it. For instance, I was an extreme nail biter. Every New Years resolution my goal was to stop bitting my nails, and every year I would fail. Finally a few years ago I got SERIOUS about it and I haven’t bit my nails since. My friends still look at my nails in disbelief. I understand what you are all thinking, “Julie, you just said it took you a few years to stop bitting your nails” but see I wasn’t serious about it until finally one day I couldn’t take looking at my ugly, little, no-nail sausage fingers. I am so serious about these 20 lbs. Now, don’t get all excited and think I am going to put a “Weight Loss Cam” in place of the PregCam….just not going to happen folks. For some reason it was a lot easier showing you my growing tummy with little Abel inside.

Yesterday, started the workout. I couldn’t do too much since it was major grocery shopping day, but between 2 grocery stores, lots of bags and Abel’s extremely heavy car seat…I think that was a pretty good work out. I ended the night with 400 crunches and a few arm strengthening exercises and this morning already dropped 1/2lb. YEPPIEE!!! Let’s hope I can keep this up. Ideally, I would like to loose 2 lbs a week (totally 10 lbs) before we go to the beach in mid-August. Even if I reach this goal, it is still highly unlikely that I will put myself in a bathing suit, but I needed to set a goal to really motivate me.

Well, there you have it. I just opened you all up to my world of weight loss. :)

Allister just doesn’t understand

Our kitty, Allister, doesn’t want to come to grips that he isn’t number 1 in our lives anymore. For instance, everything new in the house that we got for the baby, Allister thinks it is his. Abel’s bedroom used to be our guest room and Allister loved to sleep on the guest bed. When we moved out the bed and put Abel’s new stuff in there he would circle the room crying, wondering where his bed was.

Everyone was so concerned that we had a cat and a new baby was on the way. They kept telling us, “don’t let the cat near him or he could cuddle up with him.” Yeah right, Allister could care less about Abel. He completely ignores him. He won’t go within 5 feet of Abel. Don’t get me wrong, I love that Allister doesn’t want to go near my little bundle.

He also has become even more needy then before-I did not know this was possible. The other day I wanted to throw him out the window. I had just put Abel to sleep and who comes waltzing in Abel’s bedroom mewing non-stop…yep…good old Allister. He likes to think he can start begging me for his dinner at 3:00 (even though he doesn’t get fed till 5:00) but this doesn’t stop him every day from starting the begging process 2 hours early. It hasn’t work for him yet, but somehow he thinks I may just change my mind. Aren’t cats supposed to be smart?

Here is Allister living it up on Abel’s floor gym. When Abel is lying on this and Allister walks in the room, he freezes in his tracks and glares at Abel (from a distance) and then slowly walks downstairs to his bed in the basement and pouts all night.

Anyone interested in a one eared, broken tail, extremely needy, black cat? Kidding…Kidding…

4th of July pics and more

I forgot to post Abel’s adorable first 4th of July pictures.
(One of my clients gave him this outfit and I couldn’t resist a few photos).

Last Tuesday, Abel got to meet Chloe for the first time. Chloe is the adorable daughter of Ryan and Kelly Portnoy. (They are amazing wedding photographers, so if you live in the Lynchburg area and need a photographer-look them up.) It’s funny how you meet people in life and then don’t meet up with them again until years down the road. I meet Ryan 9 years ago in college. He has an amazing memory and was remembering all this stuff from college. I got to know Kelly by becoming a huge fan of her blog. She is a sweet heart and a delight to be around.

Here are our children meeting for the first time. How cute are they together! (Doesn’t Chloe have the most precious eyes!)

Welcome Ava Virginia!

Congratulations Lindsay and Glenn!

Ava Virginia Wiederman entered the world on 7/7/07 (isn’t she lucky) at 2:04pm weighing in at 6lbs 10oz and 19in long.
I am so proud of Linny. She had to go through so much. She went to the hospital on Friday night, but she wasn’t progressing and the baby’s heartrate was dropping so they had to do an emergency C-Section. Linny is in pain, but in good spirits.

My mom and sister, Alison, drove down with me and Abel and we got to see Ava and her family. She is breathtaking. She looks just like Linny as a baby.

Here are a few pics. They don’t do her any justice since I had the old camera. Seth was shooting a wedding on Sat, so I had to use backup and I was not happy that I couldn’t change the ISO and had to either use flash or no flash. But believe me she is gorgeous and has a head full of black air, big blue eyes and very adorable rosie checks!
The beautiful Ava!
