Abel got his first cold. It is SO SAD! How do you moms handle it when your child gets sick? My heart truly goes out to all those mothers who have to watch their children suffer from terrible diseases or illnesses. It is so hard to see your child get sick. Thankfully, it is just a little cold and I think he is already almost better.
He has been a great night sleeper until just this past week. #1 reason was that he was getting sick and I didn’t realize that. (Hey, I’m a new mom) #2 reason is he is getting stuck between the mattress and the crib. I need help from the moms out there on this one. (EDIT) Oh, and there is a #3 reason…he rolls over from his tummy to his back and he HATES being on his back and will NOT fall asleep if he is on his back. I know, all the books and doctors tell you to not put them on their tummy, but after we realize he was not going to sleep on his back, we gave in and put him on his tummy.
Ok, here is the deal. So, I got rid of his bumper pads b/c they were puffy and I got freaked out since he is a wiggle worm and prefers to sleep right up against the crib. I now use a breathable mesh pad that was created by a mom to help prevent SIDS. It is great b/c he can be pressed up against it and he can still breathe. HOWEVER, he gets his arms stuck between the mattress and crib (this is due to the fact that he moves in his sleep-I’m telling you he is a wiggle worm. If there is infant ADD he has it) and of course it wakes him up and he starts screaming. He has been sleeping from 7:30pm to 7:30am. He had been only getting up one to two times during that 12 hour stretch, which I can live with b/c it is 12 hours and he goes down so early. But now this breathable mesh pad is screwing everything up. What am I to do? I need advice and SLEEP! I started working again and today it felt like it took everything in me to stay awake on the job, since I was up so many times with him last night. As soon as I get him unstuck from the crib, he immediately falls back to sleep, so it is not like he needs to eat or can’t go back to sleep. He is just getting awaken by this mesh bumper pad. Any advice is welcome.
