You gotta love those Baby Videos

I don’t let Abel watch too much TV, but I do let him watch the Baby Einstein/Baby Mozart videos. He LOVES them so much. For those 30 minutes he is fascinated by the colors, toys, music etc. I usually put it on when I need to get ready. I put him in his walker and he doesn’t move. He laughs, smiles, talks and jumps around. If you try to call his name he has NO CLUE you are even in the room. Some people hate the videos, but I say what is the harm. Plus, a mom needs a few minutes of peace and quiet. Can I get an AMEN! It is only once a day for 30 minutes.
Hey Abel, do you want to watch your video?

This is what the scene usually looks like.

He usually is biting on some toy during his favorite flick.

Must have been a funny part in the show.
20080226_014

Has NO IDEA Seth is taking his picture.

20080226_012

Must be a serious part…
20080226_013

I have no idea what this facial expression means…

Cheering on the video during one of his favorite scenes.

Thanks to the genius who created these wonderful videos!

I’m such a sap!

Ever since I became a mom I turned into the biggest sap!

Don’t get me wrong, I have always been a “softy” my whole life. But now I can cry at the drop of a hat. This hasn’t always been the case. Seth doesn’t understand what has happened to his wife. I don’t know what happened to me either, but I can cry at any given moment.

I remember when I was pregnant (and I know you pregnant ladies out there will agree) I would just start crying. Seth would be so concerned and ask what I was crying about, and with all honesty I would tell him I HAD NO IDEA what I was crying about. I would just start to cry.

Then once Abel came into my life, I turned into an even bigger sap. I think a lot of it has to do with realizing just how valuable and special life is. Life is truly a gift from God.

This weekend we got to have a date night and actually go out to dinner and IKEA land. We even watched a movie at home too! It was a super fun weekend! However, the only movie we had available that we hadn’t seen was “Blood Diamond”. I know, you are all thinking “Blood Diamond hasn’t that been out FOREVER?” “Why, no it hasn’t.” It has only been out for a little over a year. It takes Seth and I at LEAST a year to see a new movie. Seth had seen this one before with our good friend Chad, while I was shooting a wedding with Chad’s wife, Allison.

He promised I was going to like it. Hello, any movie that shows harm being done to children is NOT something I enjoy. I started crying within the first 10 minutes. We had to pause it and work through it. I told Seth I wasn’t going to watch it, but then after some comforting and covering up my eyes at certain times during the movie, I pushed through and watched it…of course, only after I shed even more tears.

So, did any of you moms out there become more sappy after childbirth or is it just me???

The Proof

In case you didn’t believe me…

He is crawling.
20080224_021

That was the best shot. Here are the ones leading up to that photo. He still can be a little sloppy at crawling, but he is fast. Watch out! I am going to stay in shape chasing my little tank around.

Eye on the prize:

20080224_019

He loves to chase this ball. However, every time he gets to it and touches it, it rolls away so he starts crawling again. This repeats itself for awhile and then he starts to let out the frustration cry.

Getting frustrated. 20080224_014

I’m coming…(Can you tell from this photo that he only has had ONE very short nap. Sundays are always rough for us.)

20080224_008

“I’m going to get you.” (Notice: The lovely gate in the background that took WAY TOO LONG to install!)

20080224_012

“Are you serious, did it really just roll away AGAIN!”
20080224_017

Got ya’ (Notice: The lovely drool. He got his 3rd tooth this weekend!) 20080224_010

Sweet victory!

(We called the techies over at BlueHost (the peeps who host this blog) and we think this website should now be running smoothly! Hopefully, you won’t encounter any problems. Again, sorry that it was acting up.)

My Bubblicious Bath Baby

I absolutely adore bath time with Abel. I know I have posted pictures before of him in the bath, but I have to post these adorable ones of him. He now sits up like a big boy. Lately, we have been bathing together because it buys me more time when he takes his nap to do other things instead of getting in the shower. I have to admit, I love taking a bath with him. It is so much fun! We laugh and splash around the whole time. I know I won’t be able to do it for too long, so I’m going to enjoy it while I can.

Having a grand time with his favorite bath toy… the very original, yellow duck.

Just for you…the “extra” happy smile.
20080210_022

Just being gorgeous!

20080210_018-2

He is getting curls!!!! YAY!!!
20080210_007

Fascinated by the running water.
20080210_030

Look at that face! The girls are going to be calling the second he hits first grade and you can bet my claws will be ready. 20080210_006

Sorry if the site isn’t working sometimes. We don’t know why it is acting up. We need to figure out the problem, so just bear with us and hopefully we will resolve it soon.

NEWSFLASH:

On Feb. 20 at 7:35 in the morning, Abel Anthony started crawling. He just did it. Just like that. He saw a toy and started crawling towards it. I screamed for Seth to hurry up and come see. Sure enough by the end of the day, he had it down. He is crawling and rolling all over the place. It’s like he is a new baby. We had to lower his crib and the gates MUST go up. Life’s a changin’.

Also, if your baby tends to leak at night you NEED to buy HUGGIES OVERNIGHT DIAPERS! These diapers are one of the best inventions. Abel used to leak every few night and it would wake him up because he had soaked through his sleeper. A few weeks ago I was at Target and saw the Huggies Overnight diapers. I thought they would be just like a regular diaper, but they are sooooo not. He hasn’t leaked since he has worn them. I have told a few moms about them and they agree that these diapers ROCK! They are the same price as regular diapers too. Huggies also recently came out with Huggies Natural fit. I have always favored Pampers, but these Huggies Natural Fit are amazing! Go Huggies!

Enjoy your icy, cold Friday. (That is if you are on the East Coast.)
