Bear hugs make my day so much BETTER!!!

One of the best feelings in the world is being attacked with bear hugs from my sweet little guy. Nothing makes my day brighter then feeling his chubby arms and legs squeezing me so tight. Abel is such a love. When I get him from his crib in the mornings, the first thing he does is give me a big bear hug. It makes those 6:00 am mornings so much more bearable. Yesterday afternoon when I picked him up from my mom’s house, he jumped into my arms and gave me more bear hugs. I LOVE this child!

What did we EVER do without the internet? Monday morning we had some random power outage that shot our wireless connection. Yes, we were without internet for 2 days. Two whole days people! That is insane! Sure, Seth had it at work, but I work from home! I had nothing. Nada. Actually, I really kind of enjoyed myself. I didn’t check email or blogs. I just did my mommy and work duties and hung out with my little man. It is always kind of nice to get away from the world wide web, but so GREAT to get back to it. Seth worked tirelessly for two nights trying to get our wireless connection back. I knew he would eventually get it working. Seth can fix anything. When something is broken, I don’t worried about it. (Even though I am a huge worrier when it comes to other things.) But stuff around the house…piece of cake for Seth. He will fix it or find a way to make it work. He always does.

Does anyone watch the Biggest Loser? I love that show! It is so motivating. I work-out while I am watching it because I feel so energized. Seth, on the other hand, doesn’t like it and claims the show makes him hungry so he eats when I am watching it. He doesn’t really watch TV, but since his office is in the living room, he tends to watch what I am watching. Every time the Biggest Loser is on he lets me know how hungry he gets while watching it. Last night he busted out the potato chips and popcorn and kept saying he couldn’t stop eating. (Seth is so not a snacker either, but something about that show does it to him.) Of course, after smelling the popcorn I decided I wanted some too! And then I heard the ice cream calling my name all the way from the freezer and I couldn’t ignore it. (You might be thinking, why do you even have this junk food in your house if it calls your name. You see reader, we don’t usually have junk food at our house, but it was left over from the Superbowl party we had for ourselves and it keeps calling our names.) So, even though I worked out for a good hour while watching the show, I probably didn’t even burn off the calories I consumed while watching the second half of the show. But still, I love that show!

Hope it was a good love day

The week is flying by and I realized that I haven’t posted in a few days. It’s late and I should probably be getting ready for bed since I have to speak BRIGHT and EARLY for a women’s group tomorrow about…you guess it…ORGANIZATION. Buuuttttt….I’m sitting at my computer instead typing away.

Abel gave me my Valentine’s day gift early. This week he has been napping better (PRAISE JESUS!!!). My mom claims if he does it for 3 days straight then it becomes a habit. Today was day four, so I’m thinking we have a habit. Oh, please dear Lord. A few weeks ago he decided he didn’t want me to rock him before his naps. So I said, “Ok, fine put yourself to sleep” and he shocked me when he actually did. It is such a blessing. We just walk into his room, I place him in his crib and he puts himself to sleep. Amazing! Thank you, God.

This afternoon when I dropped him off at my mom’s house he clearly said, “Hi dada!”. Of course, dada was not around to experience this GRAND event. But, his other loyal fans (me and my mom) got so excited we started clapping. Well, he got so excited with us and started clapping too. WOW!!! Two new tricks in one day! I was just hoping he would actually say it for Seth. Sure enough, daddy Seth got his Valentine’s day gift from Abel too. He said “Hi dada” to Seth. What a treat! Which reminds me, last Valentine’s day was the first time dada Seth felt Abel kick in my womb. Aww…

It was a good love day over here at the Nickerson house. I’m starting to ramble now so I really better get myself to bed so I can speak clearly tomorrow.

Hey Abel, what’s new?

What’s that you say, you’re thinking about crawling?

20080203_192

So are you saying it is hard to move your 20lb body? 20080203_189

Oh, I see you just get distracted by the captivating carpet.

No worries, baby, take your time. Just buys us more time without having to deal with those annoying gates.

HELLO CORK!!!

It’s HERE!

The cork is HERE and installed and looking as GORGEOUS as I had dreamed it would be. We can’t thank GLENN & LINDSAY enough for sacrificing their weekend to help install our floors. Glenn you are amazing! We love you! You are both truly our dear friends.

The new gorgeous cork.

We still have a little more to do and also the finishing touches, so don’t judge. I knew you all would be bugging for pics, so I couldn’t keep you in suspense. 20080211_036

Up close…I’m so in love with it.
20080211_033

My hot hubby in his pjs ripping up the old floor…only to discover the hideous flooring that was hiding underneath it. 20080202_177

How awful and gross is this flooring! I had to wake up every morning for ONE week and look at this. I know, you all feel real sorry for me.20080202_178
Look closely, there is paint drippings and actually markings for instructions on how to installed the “new” flooring. Lovely, isn’t it.

I can’t end with that picture, so here is a view from the couch.

I’m so grateful for new floors! I have waited so long for them. Thanks babe and Glenn. You two rock!

8 months already

I know I say it all the time (and am sounding like such a mom), but they grow up too fast. WOW! I was amazed this morning as I watched him eat his Cheerios and banana. My baby is soon not going to be a baby much longer. But I am humbled at how the Lord so richly blessed us with Abel. He is truly a GIFT from God! And I know all the moms out there feel the same why about their precious children.

These were taken a few weeks ago, but he looks darling so, of course, I had to share them with my readers.

So much for the teething biscuits. He now knows he can bite them, so he takes huge chunks and tries to eat them. 20080123_218

He was standing my himself, staring out the back window at our gorgeous view…the back of our neighbor’s townhomes.

Breathtaking, isn’t it Abel?

20080119_135

He loves books
20080119_126

20080119_127

He especially likes to eat them
20080119_128

20080119_129

Those teeth are sharp!
20080119_130

Don’t you just want to reach in the screen and kiss those lips!
20080119_131

And last, an event that you will never see again in a photo, because it RARELY happens. He fell asleep in his car seat. I know, most of you are thinking my baby always fell asleep in the car seat…however, Abel is NOT your typical baby.
