Hurry, Cork!

If you walk into my house right now…I would be embarrassed. It looks like you have stepped into 1965 in a bad way. Seth and I have been trying to decided for awhile now which flooring we wanted to replace with-what I thought was awful-laminate flooring. I really didn’t know what awful was until he started ripping up the flooring only to discover what probably is one of the most…wait…no…the MOST AWFUL flooring I have EVER since in my 28 year life. It makes my old laminate flooring look really good.

We have pictures, but I can’t bear to show you what I am living with right now until we have the after pictures with the new cork. You might be thinking…Cork? Why the heck would you want cork flooring? Because it is AMAZINGLY gorgeous, easy to care for and also “eco” friendly. You can check it out at ifloor.com. They have a zillion ones to choose from, but I will surprise you on which one we got. (ok, some of you know since I couldn’t hold it in). If you looking into replacing your floors, look into cork. Also, ifloor.com has GREAT customer service (Dustin rocked) and has amazing reviews from their customers.

This weekend Ava’s Daddy (see post below if you don’t know who Ava is. If you don’t then you obviously don’t visit this blog much.) is graciously coming up to help Seth install the new cork floors. THANKS GLENN! Glenn has saved us before. He was the main reason our basement was finished before Abel arrived.

Here are some pictures from last weekend when Seth’s family came to visit us for Abel dedication. Thanks Nickersons for coming to see us! It was also the first time Abel’s other set of Great Grandparents met him (Thanks Jack & Dede!). Can you believe he is blessed with 2 sets of wonderful Great Grandparents?

Abel amazed at Daddy’s juggling skills. Seth has talents out the wazoo..I didn’t know he could juggle till after we were married. (Can you believe I allow Seth’s office to be in our living room? I can’t believe I am showing you this picture. It is a beautiful piece of furniture when closed, however, it rarely gets closed. :) Love you, babe! 20080126_016

Boys will always find a way to have a good time

Cork pictures to be coming soon…I hope.

More Abel & Ava

I can’t help it if I put too many pictures up of these two. Lindsay is my best friend of almost 25 years and it was just too crazy that we had kids 5 weeks apart. We really are trying hard to get them together every month. So far, we are doing good. They came to visit us 2 weeks ago and it was the first time they actually really played together. Abel kind of attacked Ava with wet kisses and kept wanting to touch her and Ava wasn’t too amused with his antics, but it was so much fun watching the two of them.

This is what happened if Abel got too close to her. (His look says it all, “What, Mom I didn’t do anything!)

But then Ava warmed up to him…

“I mean, I guess you can play with my toys.”

“I think I have seen you around before”

Here he is trying to give her a kiss (a little blurry, but I had to share). Right after this picture, Ava fell over. 20080123_208

Thanks Linny and Ava for coming up too see us. We’ll see you soon.

PS-Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes! It was a great 28th birthday.

Abel’s dedication

Last Sunday we had Abel dedicated to our Lord. Baby dedications are not the same as baptizing your baby. We believe that Abel belongs to the Lord and we are secure in our faith and know that if anything were to happen to Abel, he would be in Heaven with Jesus. A baby dedication is simply the act of us standing up in front of our church declaring that we will raise Abel as a child of God. The pastor prays for Abel and also for us that we will raise him right.

Of course, our sweet guy was a ham on the day of his dedication. He didn’t have much sleep (as usual) and as soon as the pastor took him he kept smiling at the congregation and then wiggling all around. He soon grabbed our pastor’s microphone and after that it was all downhill.

You can see the progression in these photos.

All smiles at first

Things are still going ok

Starting to grab the pastor’s mic…Look closely at my pastor’s face.

Alfy trying to get Abel’s hands of his mic
20080127_033

Not happy that he couldn’t have the mic (this is where it goes downhill)
20080127_034

I had to take him halfway through the pray because he completely lost it.

Of course, as soon as we walked away he started smiling again.
