Look who is a toddler now!

Abel’s hives (Lord Willing) look like they are almost gone. We have another appointment Monday morning just to make sure he is out of the woods. I will be so EXCITED when they are gone. I CANNOT stand seeing my baby in pain and I wish I could just take it from him. It feels like I am torturing him when I have to give him his medicine. I hate it! And I know all your moms out there know what I am taking about.

Thankfully, my mom has really helped me out these past few days. (Plus, he naps so much better for her.) I was starting to feel overwhelmed (you know those moments when you start thinking about how much you have to do and then it just snowballs and you start panicking-or is that just me?) I haven’t been able to get much done this week, but good old mom saved the day once again and has helped me out with my little man. Isn’t it amazing how much you can get done with some help! Soon, my anxiousness disappeared and I am almost feeling like I can conquer the world (almost).

I feel like I have been in a fog these past few days since he has been so sick. All my attention is focused on him and making sure he is as comfortable as possible. I really cannot wait to get back to our normal schedule. It really makes you remember how thankful we need to be for our health.

Thank God I have a loving husband who understand that and really helps me out. I have said this before, but I would not be the girl I am today with my amazing hubby standing behind me. I had a photo shoot this weekend (I absolutely love doing portraits, by the way) and if it wasn’t for Seth I would have not been able to do it. Anyway, enough sappy talk…you all just really want to see Abel photos.

Since I don’t want to share his rash photos to the whole world, I will show you some photos from before those evil hives came upon his precious, little body.

He pulls himself up on WHATEVER he can. (By the way, he stands up in his crib now and chews the wood-lovely, don’t ya think?) Why did I buy an expensive crib?
Note:
all new pregnant moms, don’t go buy expensive cribs. One day, I am going to post all the things you really DON’T need when having a baby.

Look how cute he is from the back. He gets into EVERYTHING now! 20080309_006

One of his new favorite things to do is French kiss the glass front door. 20080309_020

Isn’t that a great sight for neighbors driving by? If that doesn’t say, please come on in, then I don’t know what does.

Some tough days

Our sweet boy had a TERRIBLE…and I mean TERRIBLE outbreak of the hives. The 3 doctors that saw him said it was the worst they have ever seen. Our poor baby had an allergic reaction to some ingredient in a bread that he ate. He ate one of those super healthy rolls and loved it. The next morning he woke up with a little rash on the back of his neck. I called the Ped. to ask if I should bring him in. They said only if it got worse. Well, that afternoon we gave him more of the healthy bread because he loved it so much and then it hit us….it must be the bread that is giving him the rash. Soon after he ate it again the rash spread like WILDFIRE. We went to the doctors that night and they said if it got worse to come back tomorrow. Oh nelly it got WAY WORSE. He looked like he stayed in the tanning bed WAY TOO LONG!!! Poor baby! They have him on a few meds and want to see him tomorrow to check him again. That will be the 4th time at the doctors this week. When it rains it pours! Not to mention he has a yeast infection and his 4th tooth coming in.

Also, please pray for Christin & Dave (see post below). He is out of surgery but the outcome is not what we had hoped and prayed for. Without going into further detail for the sake of their privacy, they need major prayer. Please lift this couple up to the Lord.

Sorry, this was not a happy post just letting you know so if I am postal for a few days you know why.

Girl Time

Last week Abel got to hang out with one of his girl friends, Charlotte.

Charlotte is a BEAUTY! Gorgeous skin, curly hair and a great smile.

Most of the pictures we have of them together look something like this…

Abel kept crawling away and Charlotte wasn’t so sure about him.

This is how they play together now, but soon (we hope) they will actually be playing together instead of grabbing each other’s socks and diapers.

Janice is a dear friend from my first job out of college. Neither of us work there anymore (Thank God), but we were blessed to meet each other. She is one of the funniest people I know. She seriously could be an actress on Saturday Night Live. (Look closely, Charlotte and Abel are holding hands….so precious!)

Abel had his 9 month check up on Monday. My little tank isn’t really a tank anymore. (Although, he still feels extremely heavy.) Six weeks ago he was 20lbs and yesterday he was still only 20lbs (40th percentile). They weren’t concerned at all because obviously he still is a decent weight and they know it is due to all the CRAWLING and pulling up that he does. He crawls EVERYWHERE and gets into EVERYTHING! (I know, all you moms are like welcome to your new world.) He is still on the tall side measuring in at 29.25 inches (80th percentile). I’m convinced he will be over 6ft tall. (These photos were taken a few weeks ago, but too cute not to show you.)

Remember to pray for Christin & Dave. See post below.

Prayer Needed

Please join me in prayer on Wed. March 12 for my dear friend, Christin and Dave.

I have spoke of them in earlier posts, but just to remind you, Dave has cancer for the second time. He is a fighter and we believe our God will cure his body. Dave is undergoing major surgery this Wed. and I am committing Wed, March 12 in prayer to them. I would love if you could pray for this wonderful couple with me.

Christin and I have been dear friends since college. She is a rock and an amazing wife to Dave (not to mention a super cool friend). Everyone should have a friend like Christin. She is extremely funny, creative, lovable, caring, giving just to name a few of her great qualities. Love ya, Christin!
