Aprons in Action

Yes, it’s true. You are looking at the newest member of Aprons in Action. Who knew there was such a group?

They found this photo of me on flickr and sent me a message saying they would love to have me join their group. I was a little suspicious at first, but then when I checked it out it is really just women in the kitchen with their aprons on in action! Ha! Isn’t that hilarious!

Too bad I look all pale and washed out. I was 12 weeks pregnant and just getting over the horrible 1st trimester hump.

Don’t dispair. You too can join Aprons in Action. Just click here and submit a dashing photo of yourself in your apron.

Just reminiscing

Abel is napping and I was just reminiscing about how last year at this time I was just MISERABLE!!! Ok, I was miserable my ENTIRE pregnancy, but the end of May/first of June was the absolute worst (as it should be, right?). I started having contractions on May 31 that didn’t stop until Abel entered the world on June 4. I love having this blog as my own little journal, so even if no one ever reads it, I can go look back and remember what was happening in my life at that time.

I was never much of a journaler (is that even a word???). I always had good intentions. Many times I would receive a beautiful new journal and the first few entries would be great, but then that was it. I always wanted to be like all those wonderful journalers out there, and now I can say I am a JOURNALER!!!!

I looked back on May 27, 2007 and here is a little paragraph from that entry.

Blog entry from 5.27.07

“I am only 20% effaced so it doesn’t look like he is coming this week, which I know could change at any given moment. Seth and I are just prepared that if it happens now, we feel as ready as ever. Next Monday, June 4th, we should know more if and when I am going to get induced.

As for me, I’m can’t sleep. I’m pretty much up all night peeing and then around 4:30/5:00am I just can’t sleep anymore. So, I usually get up b/c I can tell I am keeping Seth up.”

And what do you know…he came on JUNE 4th. For all you new readers or readers that forgot, my due date was June 18th, but because my little 5 foot body got so swollen and there was no room left, induction was going to be necessary if it didn’t come by June 15. Praise God he came 2 weeks early!!!!

And because I know you all want to see what I looked like back then….here ya go!

Oh my gosh, I was HUGE!!!!

Amazing what a year can do. Abel is walking and saying words like, “tractor”. And Thank God I am now 50lbs lighter!

Lime-a-lious

We are back from Mass. and just trying to recover from the long drive. Although, I must say we have been making good time (Thank You Lord) Not many people drive through the night. I could NEVER do it, but Seth is a trooper that is for sure. Abel and I pretty much pass out after an hour of being on the road while Seth and his snacks get us home. Seth is not really a snacker, but when we take trips you would think he was the Snack King. I want to vomit after hearing him eat snacks constantly for 7 hours straight. But low and behold, the snacks allow him to stay awake and get us home in 7 hours. If you aren’t from New England or don’t travel there, that is GREAT time. It usually would take around 10 + hours during the day, so shaving 3 or more hours off a trip with a baby, I’ll take his 7 hours of snacking any day. Thanks BABY for driving!

I’m still in the process of uploading pictures from our lovely little Memorial getaway, but for now here are some that were taken before we left.

Abel runs to the fridge every time I open it…sounds like a cat I know….

He found a lime and assumed it was his new toy. Seth comes home to find his son playing with a lime and asks me why I would allow him to play with it. I simply say if a lime allows me to cook dinner, then bring on the limes.

Look dad a REAL lime!

He hasn’t gained weight in 5 WHOLE months…YES 5 Months! That is due to his monkey-like behavior. He still, however, has the most scrumptious thighs!

Maybe I should give this a try…

Milestones in Boston

I’m writing from Mass. right now. We took a Memorial Day trip up here to visit family and attend a cousin’s wedding. We decided to stay one extra day since we just weren’t ready to leave and we also thought we might avoid all the holiday travelers…I hope we are right.

We have only been here a few days and I can’t believe how much Abel has changed. He started WALKING!!! Every day he is getting better and better. He also is saying a few new words and he just transition to actual MILK! I had heard horror stories how breastfed and formula fed babies have a hard time switching to milk. I was running low of formula and thought why don’t I just try and it see what happens. He drank the whole thing and never make a face! Wow, something was actually easy.  I’ll count my blessings.

We had a little birthday celebration up here so Seth’s family could celebrate his one year birthday. We had a combo party since Abel and his Grandma Nickerson share the same birthday (June 4) and his Grandpa Nickerson’s birthday is on May  26. His favorite dessert (so far) is cheesecake so Grandma Nickerson made him some homemade cheesecake and he devoured the whole thing! (pictures to come)

But for now, so I don’t leave you photoless…these picture were taken a few weeks ago when Abel’s girl friend Ava come to visit. We threw them in the bath together and they didn’t really play nicely together. These pictures were taken before the meltdowns happened.
