This is the best cake shot we got. He wasn’t really wanting to eat in front of all his guests.

Sorry. I said I would post these on his birthday, but then I got all sappy and wanted to write a post to my son.

It was a great first birthday party, even though we slightly had a tired birthday grump on our hands. He was usually doing something like this…

But what did I really expect. He is ONE! His adorable little friends and him played on the living room floor with his new toys and ate Gerber Cheese puffs. They were so all so cute. However, trying to get a photo of 5 little munchkins to sit still wasn’t successful…This was the best we could do.

Ava wasn’t so sure about the party.

The best part of the whole party was when everybody starting signing “Happy Birthday”. Abel got a huge smile and when the song was over, he did the sign for “more”. So everybody starting signing it again.

He was clapping and so happy. And then when it was over for the second time, he signed “more” again. How do you say no, so everybody sang it AGAIN for the 3rd time! We were all laughing and as they were signing I looked around and felt so overwhelmed with all these people who loved Abel. It was just so sweet! I could feel the love in the room and was so blessed that all these people our in our lives.

Not so sure about mama’s cheesecake

He actually really loves cheesecake which is why I made him a cheesecake for his birthday, but was very suspicious about it. Probably because 20 people were staring at him waiting for him to eat it.

In other news:
We just got back from Abel’s one year check up and my little monkey is LOSING weight! He dropped down to 19.5 lbs (8% in weight). He used to be in the 90% in his younger days. They weren’t concerned since they saw just how active he is. He didn’t stop moving the whole time we were there. They could barely get an accurate weight reading since he doesn’t sit still. Let’s look down memory lane and see just how fat he was. He was only 2 months here!

He is following in his daddy’s steps and getting taller and thinner. Now measuring it at 30.75 (85%) he is getting leaner.

I thought you all would like to know (and also so I have a recorded of it) all the words Abel can say at one year.

I decided to write this post to Abel.

To my sweet, precious boy:

One year ago today God so graciously gave you to us. (I’m already crying) Your daddy and I waited so anxiously to meet you and the second you entered this world, our hearts were yours. We were in awe of your gorgeous face and so humbled God choose us to be your parents. I’ve never seen your daddy cry the way he cried when you entered the world. You stole his heart immediately. I fell in love with you the day I found out I was pregnant with you, but could only imagine the unspeakable love I felt for you the day you were placed in my arms. I had heard of this type of love before, but could never fully understand it until I become your mother. What a joy you have been since the moment you were born!



You were quiet for the first 2 weeks of your life, but boy did your personality shine soon after that. You didn’t want to miss out on life and that sure is the the case today. YOU LOVE LIFE! You LOVE people! And you love to SMILE! I prayed the whole 9 months for a healthy, happy baby. God so graciously answered my prayers and gave me even more then I ever ask for. Your smile lights up a room!

You are a little ham.

I was told by many older mothers to enjoy every moment, because it soon will pass. I have really tried to listen to those words of wisdom because I quickly understood what they meant.

It feels like only the other day we brought you home. Your daddy and I were learning together how to take care of a newborn and through that it only made our relationship with each other stronger. We love you for bringing us closer together as a family. You have brought us so many laughs.

You are sweet, yet daring.

I love your curious little mind and your love for books.

You love nature and could live outside. You study things very carefully and we can tell your little mind is hard at work. You are fascinated with doors, buckles, hinges and cars. One of your very first words was car and you say it about 50 times a day. We love to watch you lie on the floor and roll your cars around while you are making a “vroom” sound.

You have a great sense of humor and one of your favorite games is “I’m going to get you.” When you even hear the words, you get so excited. We tackle each other and laugh the whole time.

You are extremely lovable. You give big hugs and kisses and make everyone feel so loved. We always say you are such a “love”.

Every night when I crawl into bed, I think of how thankful I am to have you and I smile and I can’t wait to see you in the morning. I still am an awe of you and can’t believe you are ours.

Abel Anthony – you are such a JOY and a DELIGHT and WE LOVE YOU so very much!

I’m finally getting up some pictures from our Memorial Day trip to Mass. Here are a few (well a little more then a few) of my favs.

We really went up to Mass. for Seth’s cousin’s Thomas’ wedding. Thomas and Danielle tied the knot on 5.24.08 and this is probably one of my most favorite shots EVER that I have taken at a wedding!

This reception place had the BEST lighting EVER! Seth and I were actually just the guests for this wedding and can I say how HAPPY that made me. I can’t even tell you the last time I have been to a wedding and just been a guest and it was fabulous! (Look at the parent’s of the groom off to the side! so cute!)

You guessed it! He was obsessed with it now. Every time he saw Grandpa Nickerson, Abel would reach for him and start pointing out to where the tractor was and tried to say tractor. Of course, Grandpa Nickerson couldn’t say no. He must have given Abel about 20 tractor rides while we were up there. If you don’t remember, just one month ago he was petrified of the tractor.
