His most favorite activity

Pretty much everyday around 4:30pm, you will find us doing this.

Abel

Who would have thought by 6:35am I would be playing cars on the floor? I can barely keep my eyes open, but I am trying my best to push my little Tonka truck while making the car sound. We’ve only been up 5 minutes and he is already jumping off the walls as he is talking about cars.

Around 4:30pm, Abel needs a change of scenery so what do we do. We head to “dig car” for some driving time. (He has a hard time saying “b”, so “big” is “dig”).

You really have to see it to believe it, but he is by far the happiest when he is in the driver’s seat. He is already a back seat driver!

Abel

Look closely at this picture. He is getting bit by a mosquito on his forehead (aww, poor baby) and has a huge chunk of avocado on his front tooth. (He was chowing down on a whole avocado prior to this photo.)

Abel

You can see he takes it very seriously. He latches on to the sterling wheel so tight when I say it is time to go.

Abel

Yes, he really is adjusting the mirror all my himself! How does he already know how do this stuff?

See you at 4:30, Abe, at your favorite spot.

Baseball Party = Lots of Boys

I should start getting used to dirty, wild boys! My home will be filled with Abel’s friends soon enough.

(How cute are these boys!)

My sweet nephew turned the big 8 on August 24.

My sister, Kate, always throws a heck of a good party. The main rule of thumb is that you have to come dress as whatever “theme” the party is that year. Since Josh eat, sleeps and dreams baseballs….it only made sense to deck the house in baseball paraphernalia.

Of course, being the dedicated Red Sox fans that we are, we showed up in our Red Sox gear. The Hamptons, being died hard Yankee fans, weren’t too happy about our choice of clothes.

This is what happens sometimes when other people use our camera…

My crazy family! Aren’t we a motley looking group.

Awww, my sisters + my niece.

DeSantis Girls

My gorgeous niece refuses to smile for the camera.

It’s true…this is one of his favorite toys.

I have no idea what my dad is doing in this photo. Don’t you love how Italian-looking my dad is!

Our little Red Sox fan! (Daddy Seth in the backgroud….so proud of his boy.)

Look closely: This picture was taken just after he threw the baseball. You can see a white smudge to the left of the photo. Proud momma moment!

Even though I am a Red Sox girl, this pictures was too cute not to post.

May I have a lemon, please?

I’m doing much better than I was from my last post. Sorry, if the last post sounded like I was whining. That is because I WAS whining!

We are still figuring out Abel’s new nap schedule. I’m getting slightly adjusted to him sleeping less. I just have to be more creative and find new things to do with him. I’m praying that I can manage my time and businesses better. I’m working on it.

The weekend helped me to feel better. I was able to collect my thoughts and take a few breaths. This weekend was packed with good memories. My Aunt Linda came into town and she hasn’t seen Abel since he was 1 month old. We also celebrated my nephew’s 8th birthday party. IS HE REALLY 8 YEARS OLD ALREADY? (Pictures coming later this week. If you are a faithful blog reader you will remember seeing my nephew’s party photos from years past. My sister is such the party planner and goes all out with birthday themes…This year the theme was baseball.)

In Abel news (because I know you all missed seeing photos of him): Abel got a hold of a lemon this weekend and Seth thankfully captured this great moment.

Sour

You would think after this face he wouldn’t go back for more, but he did. He loves the sour taste!

And a few more of our little car obsessed child!

I’m trying

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for Tyler Wilkerson’s family. I know they appreciate all your prayers. Please also pray for Manny, Tyler’s best friend, who was driving that night. He was not injured, but needs your prayers as you can imagine.

I’m finding it hard to blog these last few days. You’ll be lucky if you get a post a week out of me in the upcoming weeks. My son decided he is too cool for naps and isn’t taking ANY. At least today he didn’t and I’m about to go in the crazy house. I love him dearly, but I need a BREAK from him. I think he is trying to transition to just one nap, but he can’t figure it out and instead of two naps he is doing NONE!!! And you moms all know how difficult the transition is….NOT PRETTY! I was getting so spoiled with his two naps. Of course, just when you get into a routine they decide it is time for a change. He is also punishing me for leaving him for a few days and wants to make sure all my time is spent watching him push his cars around and making sure I am doing nothing else. (Can you tell I am edgy tonight?)

I’m also struggling to manage two home based business when I am chasing a toddler who DOESN’T sleep.

I’ll be fine. We just both have to get used to a new schedule. Hopefully, it will be sooner than later. Every once and awhile I have to vent, right? Enough whining for me. I will push on.

Onto a happy note, our romantic getaway was fabulous! Getting away with my hot hubby was just what the doctor ordered.

Of course, we only got one terrible photo of us together. The only problem with our professional camera is that when we ask people to take our pictures with it (that is if they are willing to hold it and take on the challenge) we end up getting blurry, no good photos. Oh well, this is the best we got.

Our room was called “The Herb Room” which meant we had a view of the garden and this flower just happen to be at its peak bloom. Just gorgeous!

20080816_0028

Some other great shots from Seth.
20080816_0031

A close up of an ant. Isn’t that cool!
20080817_0126

Not too much of a hiker, but I try.

Thankfully, after our hike we treated ourselves to Roman Baths and massages. (Berkeley Springs is known for its Roman Baths. You can’t go to Berkeley Springs without getting a Roman Bath.)

I was in love with this door. We would pass it a few times a day.

Seth, aren’t you having so much fun with me?
20080817_0114

That’s better.

20080817_0112

And this was too funny not to get a picture of.
