Have you noticed the long time in between posts these days? I’m struggling a bit over here to hold on. Too many different things going on right now in my life. I feel like I am stirring a bunch of different pots and the pots are all boiling. Does that make any sense to anyone? It makes sense to me. In other words, life has been a bit crazy so it makes finding time for blogging hard.
It’s late and I should go to bed, but I had a slight itch to get on the computer and I figured I better blog now before the time passes. I wish I could say that Hurricane Hannah came and went and all is well. She made her presence known and did some damage. We have had a flooding problem for quite some time now, but we finally figured out it isn’t our drain that is the problem, it is the foundation. Yep! Water is creeping in through a section of our poor, little, old house. Doesn’t that sound expensive? We parked ourselves in the basement all day Saturday and watched the water pour in by the minute. (literally, by the minute!) It was terrible and awful and draining and exhausting and SO discouraging, BUT I must say we found the many positives out of it.
1) Seth was home that day. Thank you, Jesus! (Can you see me trying to clean up water with a toddler?)
2) We were shooting a wedding on Sunday (not on a Saturday). This couple picked Sunday! Blessing!
3) We have a shop vac that does wonders and Praise God we didn’t lose our electricity.
4) Abel napped amazing…..if you know Abel he isn’t the best napper. God allowed him to sleep most of that day, so we could focus on the basement.
It all could have been so much worse, so after I had my little “cry session” early Sat. morning and a nice pep talk from the hubby, we decided to make lemonade out of our lemons.
I will say we were so sore and tired the next day from mopping up water. Just how you want to feel the morning you have to photograph someone’s most important day. But you know, we pulled it off and had a great day. It was gorgeous weather, an amazing location and great couple! It was the first time we had shot a Jewish wedding and it was so much fun!
Sadly, no photos yet to show you. I could barely function today and you can’t tell your toddler that he can’t run around the house because Mommy doesn’t feel like it today. Abel literally hits the ground running. (I’m really not kidding!) I should put my running shoes on as soon as I get up, because I am chasing him around the house before the sun rises.
We did rent an super cool zoom lens for this wedding, but we didn’t have too much time to play around with it (because of the water issue…read above). But here are some shots of our ham and a half. That is what I am calling him from now on. This kid is so funny! We always say he is such a ham, but he now is a ham and a half. This particular day he asked to wear his hat (below). Prior to this day, he has always hated wearing hats and takes them off his head before I even get the hat on his head. However, something has changed and he likes hats all the sudden. You can’t really even tell we have a zoom lens on, because we didn’t leave our living room, but who cares. You just want to see Abel.

Doesn’t he look like a little conductor in this photo?

That’s all I got….until next time.
