Best Buds

It was about 3 months ago. Abel and I were outside playing in the yard (well, if you can call it a yard-more like our sidewalk) and I saw a new neighbor strolling her little boy. I had seen them before from a distance, but we had never met. Being bold, I shouted at them that I wanted to meet them. Heather and Owen gladly walked over to us and our boys haven’t left each others side since.

It was an instant friendship. I did warn Owen’s mom that if Owen wore a car shirt, Abel might just attack the car on his shirt. This did happened early on in their budding friendship, but Owen didn’t seem to mind Abel’s antics. Heather, Owen’s mom, is also a photographer and we seem to have a lot in common so we always enjoy getting together and chatting about whatever.

Abel has lots of girl friends, since all my friends seemed to be having little girls around the time Abel was born. He loves those girls dearly, but there is something different about being with a little boy around his age (they are 6 months apart). It is the first real “guy” friend he has had and they totally play like little boys should. It was the first time I saw Abel really play with another boy. Don’t get me wrong, they still fight over the same toys, but they love being together. Owen also shares Abel’s passion for cars, trucks, trains, tractors (you know, anything that moves) so they get along GREAT!

Meet Owen. (I can’t believe he hasn’t been on this blog yet. I’m sure you’ll see him in the future.)

Buddies

We took about 10 pictures and most of them looked something like this. (Abel really doesn’t have a crazy long foot…I swear it is the socks.)

And I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this photo of Abel! It gives me a taste into the future of what he will probably look like when he is 5. Oh, my sweet little muffin, how I could kiss your lips all day long. :)

Tomorrow is our church’s Fall Festival!!! If you don’t remember or are just starting to read this blog, my family is slightly obsessed with dressing up. We LOVE it! Here is a picture of my family last year. I’m excited to show you our costumes this year. Of course, my super creative hubby came up with them.

(if you are wondering what Seth and I were: Fly ball & Baseball bat….play on words…)

And here was my pumpkin last year.

Happy Halloween!

At the dinner table

The dining room table is one of Abel’s most favorite places to play. I don’t really like that he plays under there, but it is hard to keep pulling him out from under the table. He forgets that he is now too tall to just walk under there without having to squat so it causes some bumps on the head, but he keeps going back for more.

This picture cracks us up. He doesn’t realize he is too tall!

(His shirt says “Mr. Silly”….so fitting for him. If anyone finds this shirt in a 2t or 3t pick it up for me and I will pay you back!)

It is also his most favorite place to poop. Seth and I keep telling each other we will most likely have to put the little potty under the table when we start potty training. Seriously….we aren’t joking. What even adds more laughter to this is that he ALWAYS poops when we are eating dinner. We call it the “dinner time poo”. He usually finishes dinner before us so he plays under the table while we are still eating and sure enough you hear the grunting and see something like this…

A very determined look as he squats. Seth always seems to capture every moment. :) (He will not be amused when he is older that I posted this picture of him!)

We usually see this face looking up at us while we are eating dinner.

Our Turn

We finally did it!

20081018_0085-4

I have been wanting a family photo shoot for the LONGEST time. After always taking so many other families photos, we finally get to be in front of the camera. Abel is almost 17 months old and this is the first time we have done something like this.

Our friend, Melinda, who has an eye for photography, used our camera and we did the editing, but still we had someone else TAKE our photos and it was great. Thank Mel! We so appreciate what you did for us.

Be prepared…LOTS of family pictures!

Something cute

I was giving Abel a bath last night and we were practicing saying Ava, so when we see her next he will be able to say her name. He said it perfect right away and I didn’t realize Seth had come up behind us and started video taping him. I thought I would try to see if he would say other words for the camera. Sure enough, Abel loves to be the star of the show so he made it easy.

He can repeat almost anything you say. Enjoy the show!
