Odd that my last two posts have the word “Factory” in them.
I’ve been wanting to write this post for awhile, but keep forgetting about it.
The Letter Factory by Leap Frog is BRILLIANT!!! Seriously, it should be taught in preschool. Abel got this DVD at Christmas and it is like a “teaching lesson” every time he watches it.
WARNING: THIS IS THE TRUTH! By 19 months, Abel could say the ENTIRE alphabet and ALL 26 sounds!!! Some kindergarteners don’t even know the alphabet. I am really NOT bragging about my son (sure, I am a proud parent) but honestly, it was by watching The Letter Factory!
And this is NOT just my son. The toddlers we know that own The Letter Factory ALL know their alphabet. I should get paid commission from Leap Frog because I tell so many moms about it.
Here is a short clip of Abel on the potty saying the sounds that each letter makes (just a few since we didn’t want to bore you with ALL 26 sounds). Potty training really hasn’t started, he just likes to sit on the potty and pretend. His cousin, Tia, was potty trained super early and since she always talks about the potty, Abel had to have his very own potty chair.
GO OUT AND BUY THE LETTER FACTORY!

That is how Victoria learned her letters and sounds. She now watches the word factory and wants to know how to spell everything. She says “what does that word spell? or how do you spell……?” Those videos are awesome!

We used the letter factory in kg for kids who were still having a hard time grasping the concept of letter sounds. These are great videos! Go Abel!

Wow Julie!
As a teacher I’m still working with kids in first and even some in second grade on their sounds! Abel is way ahead of the game! I bet he’ll be an early reader! (An adorable one at that!)

Seeing Abel last weekend and watching this video is like deja vu. I remember Seth being a sponge at that age loving to learn and repeat all those letters. He was so fun to teach and was reading in preschool. Abel may even beat his dad!

Julie,
You are a good Mom and take the time to be with Abel and teach him. And it is so wonderful that he can focus and learn at such a young age. I guess I always remember Seth at that age as he was my first grandson. I always thought he was the smartest little one, but I guess Abel is a chip off the old block. Thanks for being a great Mom. We all appreciate you…for being you!!!!
