Ava Noelle’s Newborn Session

December must have been the month for little girls. In less then two weeks, I have had the honor to photograph 3 baby girls!

Today’s feature is Ava. My dear friend Shannon and I met in college and then lost touch after we graduated. Thankfully, she found my blog and we have reconnected. I was so excited when she ask me to photograph her little girl. Abel and I made the trip to Richmond and Shannon’s 4 year old boy kept Abel very entertained.

I love photographing my friend’s babies. They always let me be a little more daring. Shannon-Thanks for letting me play with Ava.

So, meet Ava Noelle at just two weeks of life.

I was so excited that it was actually warm enough to take Ava outside. Can you believe that in Dec? That’s VA for you.

My sister in law made all these headpieces. Don’t you think she needs to open an Etsy shop?

Atlantis: Way overdue

Has it really been one month since we went to the Bahamas?

Why, yes, it really has. Where did the time go? Well, between two different family Thanksgivings, LOADS of work, pregnancy (thank God it is the holiday season because I have a new love for candy canes), and the fact that Christmas is in two weeks….that my friends sounds like enough excuses for the reason this post is very long overdue.

So the Atlantis is just amazing.

I mean, it is out of control huge!

Everything is just over the top.

You just walk around and see stuff like this.

And like this.

It was just the mini vacation we needed.

We were surrounded by aquariums with gorgeous fish. Here are some of them.

This room is $25,000 a night. Yes, I said $25,000 a NIGHT! Oprah loves it.

Can you tell we love our new Fisheye lens? It was our Christmas gift early to each other. Every year for Christmas, we buy a lens as our gift (it makes Christmas shopping really easy for us).

The Altantis is known for its HUGE slides. They have a massive water park with so many slides, lazy rivers and slides where you can take an inner tube and just act like a little kid, and we did! It was so much fun! Seth tried them all. I couldn’t do all of them due to the pregnancy, but I still did most of them.

This is Seth on the scary slide. It’s a 40ft slide that goes straight down and into a shark tank. (of course, the sharks are in a tank, but you slide through the tank-so cool!)

The Atlantis is on its very own island, so we were surrounded by this…

I was proud of myself, I found a hermit crab.

They also have a dolphin section where you can swim with the dolphins. I’m telling you this place has everything. We couldn’t afford to swim with the dolphins, so we just took their pictures instead.

Well, hope you enjoyed a peek of our trip.

Sneak Peeks from Nickerson Studios

I feel like I am falling so behind on this blog. This time of year is crazy for Nickerson Studios! Life is full and I can’t complain. I’m just holding on until Christmas. I’ll be 12 weeks on Christmas (and if all goes well) I will start feeling better.  Until then, I am (almost) too busy to think about how awful I feel.

So, here is a quick sneak peek from just some recent sessions. I hope to show more soon (esp. from my newborn sessions).

Stay tuned!

Happy December 1st!

Somehow today was very productive and it is only the afternoon. Lately, my pregnant self hasn’t been able to get too much accomplished in the morning. But today was different.

I was having the urge to bake (which is rare for me. I’m a cooker, not a baker) so I decided to jump on it and get my little man involved. We started out making Apple (fiber) muffins this morning. Preggers was craving muffins so, of course, I had to make them as soon as I got up. Food is very important in my world right now. (I’m not happy about it.)

If you know me, every year I make chocolate covered pretzels for friends &  family. Abel has a love for chocolate pretzels so I decided to have him help me with the sprinkles. They definitely have an “Abel” touch all over them which makes them even more special. I love that he is old enough to help me bake. It was great having him by my side adding the sprinkles (and eating way too many).

So here’s to December! I hope you enjoy the season and take some time to make little memories out of the craziness that the holiday brings.
