The Love Month

I was in the 6th grade and I walked into my classroom and saw a hideous vase with one rose sitting on my desk. I remember being embarrassed and then really mortified when I found out that it was from Stephan. A 6th grader boy who I thought was gross. I immediately tried to hide it in the teacher’s lounge hoping no other classmates saw it was from him for fear of them thinking I actually liked Stephan.

I got home and threw it away. Then my mom told me how nasty I was being and she pulled it out of the trash and asked if I even said “thank you” to Stephan. Ummmm. No. She then displayed the hideous vase & flower on her kitchen counter all week to remind me that I got a sweet Valentine from Stephan.

It was a good little life lesson and I think Stephan would be happy to know I still remember that he gave me one of my first Valentines (beside my dad, who always gave us chocolate).

Here are my little loves wishing you some love this month…

Sage has a huge piece of chocolate wedged in her mouth, hence the funny smile. Bribery is starting to work with her.

Keeping up

I honestly don’t think I would care if I found out no one reads my blog. This blog totally keeps me on track with taking pictures of my kids and the latest happenings in their life. Let’s face it, I haven’t been the best at keeping up with their baby books, but I feel like this blog will save me in the future when they are giving me the guilt trip of not writing too much in their baby books.

Winter is my slower season with the business so it has been so lovely spending more time with the kids. I can’t get enough of them. Sage is a bundle of fearless energy. The girl is a dare devil. I can’t believe it. I never dreamed after having such a wild little guy that my girly girl would be so daring and bold. Even though she loves a good wrestle with her boys she just as much loves mommy’s make up and jewelery. She reminds me now to put a “pretties” in her hair. ha!

The other day after running errands, she started crying when we pulled into our community letting me know she wasn’t happy to be home. She kept shouting, “no home, more shopping mommy”. She pushes her little grocery cart around saying “I’m shopping.” I’m not even a huge shopper at all,  but she loves being out and about and meeting new people.

Here are some recent pics…

I did set up the backdrop earlier in the week for my niece’s photo shoot. Sage is obsessed with this white chair so she immediately jumped into the set. I actually adore this picture of her crazy hair.

Crazy hair!

Speaking of crazy hair…

Help! Sage is stuck! (this wasn’t pretty after I snapped this shot.)

When Sage naps, I make Abel have quiet time of some sort. (more like, let mommy rest and get a few things done without kids talking to me and pulling on my leg.) He sometimes likes to get out the little shuffle and listen to music. I walked in and saw this…awesome sauce!

His shirt is fitting, don’t you think. “Born Wild”

Sage’s buddy, Levi, came over the other day. Aren’t they cute together.

My niece is turning one soon! She is a feisty one and full of energy. She’s extremely expressive and busy (and quite talkative too. It must be the Italian in our blood that has our babies talking so early). My sister wanted one good shot for her one year picture. Let me tell you, this 11 month old had me working hard to get these pictures.

.32.

Somehow I am already 32! The lady at the store told me the other day, I looked 15! Wow, I think she was being overly nice. It must have been the teenage zit I was sporting that week on my face.

It was a great day filled with lots of love from my little ones and beardless hubby. Seth has been growing a monster on his face the past 3 months and my birthday request was for him to get rid of it.

As we were sitting eating together the evening of my birthday, I just sat there and looked at my beautiful family and was overjoyed at the many blessings in my life. I’m not gonna lie…I love my 30′s.

Impossible to get them both to look at me the same time.

Sage Performs!

I won’t forget the day. Sage was 17 months old and walking around in her jammies one morning carrying her little pink Bible that she received the day she was dedicated to the Lord. She loves that little Bible and says “Bible, Bible” when she carries it. Then all the sudden out of the blue she started singing “Jesus Loves Me”. Mind you, up until this moment we had never heard her sing this song, not even in pieces. And that morning, while holding her Bible she sang all the words to Jesus Loves Me. I grabbed the video camera as fast as I could, but it was low on batteries and shut off!

She sings that song ALL the time and she also loves to sing “Away in a Manger.” I finally was able to capture some of her singing the other day when she decided it was her time to shine in front of the camera. Seth can back me up on this…the girl sings ALL DAY LONG and I’m not going to lie, it makes us happy.

My mother in-law said Sage can carry a tune too, which is quite impressive considering this momma who always sings to her isn’t too musically gifted. I mean, I’ve got nothing people in that department. Somehow, I was lucky enough to marry into a family who has musical talents up the wazoo. If we ever did a Nickerson family special, I would be the one shaking the little egg shaker. along with my brother in-law, who I was happy to find out, is also musically uninclined.

So, here is our girl in her jammies with her crazy morning hair singing her little heart out just for you. (Ignore the array of toys, the nebulizer sitting out and the mess on the table!) Take note, she was very concerned when Seth stopped watching her so he could grab a tissue. She had to stop her singing to make sure he was watching her. Clearly, she is a performer!
