Just another day

Where have I been this week? Really, I’ve just been chugging along with the everyday tasks that comes with life.

I’m sad to see Summer coming to an end. Abel and I took a walk yesterday and we watched the school bus pass us (in Abel words….”the dig car”), a reminder that school has started and summer is coming to a close. As we kept on walking we passed the pool. Another reminder that Summer is over. I got sad when I saw the gate to the pool locked up. No more dips in the pool till next year….sniff…sniff….

Nothing too exciting going on at the Nickerson household. I haven’t got my camera got for awhile so no new pics of Abel. (I know, can you believe it?) However, I do have another little muffin to show off. Remember, Isaac Ross, born 6 weeks early? Well, at just over 8lbs, Isaac, is showing the world he is a strong boy.

We’ve had the pleasure of seeing this cutie pie twice in one week. Abel and I absolutely adore this little guy.

I know, don’t you just want to kiss those lips!

He was trying to open his eyes for his Auntie Ju Ju….

In other news, all the boys went to see the Nats play last weekend while the girls went out to eat. Even though we are dedicated Red Sox fans are next team in line has to the Nationals…hello DC!

How funny is this photo? For $15 a pop you can buy this photo online or you can just bring your camera and get the same great shot!

Is he giving the piece sign or telling us that the Nats have only won twice this year? I have faith that they will be a rockin team someday……Go Nats!

I’ve been thinking about…bangs….

Before you say NO WAY JULIE, give me a chance to explain myself.

The last time I had bangs was 16 years ago…I was 12 years old and I thought they were super cool.

1992 bangs

And no, we really aren’t on the log flume at King’s Dominion Park, we are posing in front of a staged background. We couldn’t possibly have our bangs that intact had we really been on the log flume with water pouring onto us. Look closely, I was a huge fan of the one curl up/one curl down and then add a ton of hairspray. Shame on you for laughing, I know there are a bunch of you reading this that did the same thing.

However, when the early 90′s rolled around they become so uncool. Obviously, I would NOT be getting those bangs again. I better never have those bangs again. If I do, it will be when I am too crazy to know any better!

So, I’m thinking something like this.
bangs

I’ve been thinking about bangs for a few months now, but just can’t seem to do it. Help me and tell me what you think. I won’t be offended and even if you say NO WAY…I still may do it.

I’m such a sap!

Ever since I became a mom I turned into the biggest sap!

Don’t get me wrong, I have always been a “softy” my whole life. But now I can cry at the drop of a hat. This hasn’t always been the case. Seth doesn’t understand what has happened to his wife. I don’t know what happened to me either, but I can cry at any given moment.

I remember when I was pregnant (and I know you pregnant ladies out there will agree) I would just start crying. Seth would be so concerned and ask what I was crying about, and with all honesty I would tell him I HAD NO IDEA what I was crying about. I would just start to cry.

Then once Abel came into my life, I turned into an even bigger sap. I think a lot of it has to do with realizing just how valuable and special life is. Life is truly a gift from God.

This weekend we got to have a date night and actually go out to dinner and IKEA land. We even watched a movie at home too! It was a super fun weekend! However, the only movie we had available that we hadn’t seen was “Blood Diamond”. I know, you are all thinking “Blood Diamond hasn’t that been out FOREVER?” “Why, no it hasn’t.” It has only been out for a little over a year. It takes Seth and I at LEAST a year to see a new movie. Seth had seen this one before with our good friend Chad, while I was shooting a wedding with Chad’s wife, Allison.

He promised I was going to like it. Hello, any movie that shows harm being done to children is NOT something I enjoy. I started crying within the first 10 minutes. We had to pause it and work through it. I told Seth I wasn’t going to watch it, but then after some comforting and covering up my eyes at certain times during the movie, I pushed through and watched it…of course, only after I shed even more tears.

So, did any of you moms out there become more sappy after childbirth or is it just me???

Hurry, Cork!

If you walk into my house right now…I would be embarrassed. It looks like you have stepped into 1965 in a bad way. Seth and I have been trying to decided for awhile now which flooring we wanted to replace with-what I thought was awful-laminate flooring. I really didn’t know what awful was until he started ripping up the flooring only to discover what probably is one of the most…wait…no…the MOST AWFUL flooring I have EVER since in my 28 year life. It makes my old laminate flooring look really good.

We have pictures, but I can’t bear to show you what I am living with right now until we have the after pictures with the new cork. You might be thinking…Cork? Why the heck would you want cork flooring? Because it is AMAZINGLY gorgeous, easy to care for and also “eco” friendly. You can check it out at ifloor.com. They have a zillion ones to choose from, but I will surprise you on which one we got. (ok, some of you know since I couldn’t hold it in). If you looking into replacing your floors, look into cork. Also, ifloor.com has GREAT customer service (Dustin rocked) and has amazing reviews from their customers.

This weekend Ava’s Daddy (see post below if you don’t know who Ava is. If you don’t then you obviously don’t visit this blog much.) is graciously coming up to help Seth install the new cork floors. THANKS GLENN! Glenn has saved us before. He was the main reason our basement was finished before Abel arrived.

Here are some pictures from last weekend when Seth’s family came to visit us for Abel dedication. Thanks Nickersons for coming to see us! It was also the first time Abel’s other set of Great Grandparents met him (Thanks Jack & Dede!). Can you believe he is blessed with 2 sets of wonderful Great Grandparents?

Abel amazed at Daddy’s juggling skills. Seth has talents out the wazoo..I didn’t know he could juggle till after we were married. (Can you believe I allow Seth’s office to be in our living room? I can’t believe I am showing you this picture. It is a beautiful piece of furniture when closed, however, it rarely gets closed. :) Love you, babe! 20080126_016
